WordPress.com Starts Bringing Their User Interface Closer to Core WordPress

WordPress.com has rolled out a significant update to their user interface, bringing it closer to the core WordPress experience.

This change is part of a larger effort to align the WordPress.com interface with the standard wp-admin interface. This will phase out the custom “Calypso” interface previously used for logged-in users.

Jacopo Tomasone, Staff Engineer at WordPress.com, explained the reasoning behind the update:

“By transitioning all WordPress.com users to the standard wp-admin WordPress interface, we aim to: offer familiarity, improve support, and allow our team to innovate into the future. Supporting two different interfaces has become increasingly challenging, and this update will streamline the experience for our users.”

Maintaining both the Calypso interface and the core WordPress admin dashboard has become increasingly difficult. This has led to duplicated efforts and an inconsistent user experience.

WordPress.com posts screen in new interface

The transition to the standard wp-admin interface is designed to offer a more consistent and intuitive experience across WordPress products. In turn, this will make it easier for users to follow tutorials and take advantage of existing WordPress resources.

This update is just the beginning of a gradual process that will continue over the next few months as WordPress.com works toward a more unified user experience.

OptinMonster Added New Browser Targeting and Multiple Event Tracking Features 🎯

OptinMonster, the leading tool for lead generation and conversion optimization, has rolled out new features. They aim to help businesses and marketers deliver the right message to the right user, in the right place, at the right time.

The new browser targeting update allows site owners to show personalized offers based on the browser visitors are using—whether it’s Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or others. This can create a more tailored experience by making campaigns even more relevant to visitors.

New browser targeting feature in OptinMonster

By combining browser targeting with device-based targeting and other powerful personalization rules like geolocation, site owners can experiment with different strategies and create highly specific campaigns.

Additionally, OptinMonster has introduced multiple-event tracking. This feature allows businesses to track various user actions on their website and see the data in Google Analytics.

Rather than just focusing on one event, like a button click, users can now monitor multiple interactions such as scrolling, form submissions, or engagement with specific content.

This level of tracking gives a deeper view of how visitors are interacting with a site and can help businesses optimize their campaigns for more conversions.

Automattic Announces Shift in Contributions to Strengthen WordPress Ecosystem

Automattic has announced that they will reduce their sponsored contributions to the WordPress open-source project. This is part of a larger effort to strategically plan the resources they spend on contributing to WordPress.

As part of this reset, Automattic will be redirecting their resources to focus on for-profit projects within the company, including WordPress.com, Pressable, WPVIP, Jetpack, and WooCommerce.

Additionally, Automattic will now match their volunteering pledge with those made by other key players in the WordPress ecosystem. The focus will likely be on security and critical updates.

Do you want to get more social media traffic and followers for your website?

Every smart marketer knows that sharing good content across your social media accounts is a proven way to boost traffic and engagement.

However, the problem is that social media sharing and account management can be very time-consuming for business owners.

What if you could easily share your blog posts the moment you publish them, automatically schedule to re-share popular posts for maximum exposure, and have the ability to manage all your social media accounts right inside WordPress?

If you’re like me and most other smart website owners, then you have at least wished for this solution at least a couple of times.

Today, I am excited to announce ClickSocial: a game-changing social media management plugin that my team built for our own internal use, and I am happy to share it with YOU, our WPBeginner community.

Imagine having the power of Buffer or Hootsuite, but integrated directly into the WordPress dashboard. With ClickSocial, you can simply connect all your social media accounts to start scheduling and publishing social content right away.

BONUS: There’s an awesome social media calendar there for better visibility, too.

Introducing ClickSocial

Background Story – Why ClickSocial?

Growing an audience on social media is a big challenge for most business owners. And posting regularly with engaging hashtags and visuals takes up a lot of time.

This becomes even more time-consuming when you want to connect with your audience on different social sites like Facebook, Instagram, X previously known as Twitter, etc.

While there are several social media management tools on the market, the problem is that they are not designed for WordPress. This means they limit your ability to drive social media traffic to your website.

Of course, you can promote your blog posts through RSS feed syndication. But since they’re automated and not optimized, they’re less likely to drive engagement and traffic to your site.

Plus, there is no easy way to revive old posts for more traffic.

So, I asked my team to build a social media management tool for WordPress users so you can easily engage your social media audience and drive more traffic to your website.

That’s how ClickSocial was born.

With ClickSocial, you’re not just scheduling posts … you’re optimizing your entire social media strategy.

From one-click link embeds to easy media uploads and automated content revival, ClickSocial is an all-in-one solution for social media management – all within the familiar WordPress dashboard that you know and love.

Simply Click to Schedule Social Media Posts Directly From WordPress

Sharing your blog content on multiple social media platforms is one of the proven methods for getting more traffic to your website.

Luckily, ClickSocial makes it super simple to connect all your social media accounts, including Facebook, X/Twitter, and Instagram, with your WordPress website.

Then, you can simply click to share your WordPress post straight from the WordPress block editor:

This will immediately launch the ClickSocial quick share interface. From here, you can type in your post description and insert videos or images directly from your WordPress media library.

Compared to traditional social media scheduling tools, this helps you save you a ton of time that you previously wasted on searching for your post URLs and featured images.

Plus, you can draft social posts for all your platforms from the same interface. No need to jump back and forth between different dashboards.

ClickSocial quick share editor

You don’t even need to manually choose when your post will be published.

ClickSocial lets you automate the social media publishing schedule for your WordPress posts.

These include:

  • Publishing the social post instantly on multiple platforms when your blog post is published.
  • Adding the social post to the next available pre-defined slot in your social media calendar.
  • Creating a draft and saving it to your ClickSocial dashboard.

Streamline WordPress Social Media Management

Looking for a way to keep track of all your upcoming social media posts? ClickSocial’s dashboard brings everything together into a simple Social Media Calendar visual interface inside WordPress.

You can easily look at your future social posts in a straightforward calendar view:

ClickSocial calendar

This allows you to keep track of:

  • Recurring campaigns like monthly online giveaways and holiday sales
  • Upcoming product launches and other announcements
  • Regular social posts sharing your latest blog posts

Want to schedule a new social media post without opening up the blog post or content editor? ClickSocial lets you do this directly from the calendar view.

Just choose the social platform you want to share on and enter your text and hashtags. Then, you can click to link to the blog post:

ClickSocial scheduling tool

From here, you just need to pick the blog post you want to share from your list of published posts and click ‘Add to Schedule’.

This will automatically insert the link and featured image into your social post with a single click:

Choosing a post to share in ClickSocial

Ready to share the post now? Just click on ‘Publish’.

Otherwise, you can pick the exact date and time you want to schedule your social media post from the dropdown menu. This makes it super easy to choose a time when your target audience will be online and engaged.

ClickSocial schedule time and date

Revive Old Posts Instantly to Boost Social Traffic

I believe the #1 mistake beginners make is publishing a blog post, sharing it once, and leaving it to die in the blog’s archive. This leads to content decay.

Have you started losing traffic to some of your older popular blog posts? Re-sharing them on social media is a great way to instantly increase engagement and get more visitors to your website especially when a lot of the posts are evergreen.

This is why I had our team design the Revive Posts feature.

Using ClickSocial, you can pick the date range of the WordPress posts you want to re-share and even include specific tags and post authors.

Filter revival posts

After picking the social media accounts you want to share on, you can also set up a post template and a custom schedule for publishing the social media posts.

In the dashboard, you can easily see your upcoming social media schedule with the posts, dates, and times:

Scheduled revival campaign

Save Time with Automated Sharing Templates for Social Media

Do you usually post on social media at the same time? There’s no need to pick the date and time every time you schedule a social post.

Instead, you can set up a custom schedule for your brand with specific days of the week and posting times:

ClickSocial schedule settings

And what if you want a specific format for all your social posts?

ClickSocial makes this even easier by letting you create templates for your posts with dynamic variables like:

  • Post title
  • Excerpt
  • Short post link
  • Categories as hashtags

This way, you can simply automate your entire social media publishing strategy.

Effortlessly Collaborate With Your Social Team Within WordPress

Running a social media agency or working with a large team?

ClickSocial’s built-in collaboration features allow you to work together in the WordPress dashboard by:

  • Assigning permissions to different team members to control who can schedule, publish, and review content.
  • Reviewing, approving, and leaving feedback on social posts.
  • Sending custom alerts to all members of your team.

These features allow you to streamline your editorial workflows, maintain high-quality content, and keep everyone in the loop.

For example, you can easily drop a comment on a social media post in the queue before it’s scheduled. This allows you to make sure that all your content is high quality.
